Although THC is best known for its mind-altering euphoria, it too has important medical benefits. There’s some overlap in what CBD and THC can treat, but THC is particularly effective in relieving nausea, appetite loss, insomnia, among other symptoms. Many patients find that a balance of CBD and THC offers the best symptom relief as the two work together synergistically.

However, the legality of hemp-derived CBD may vary from state to state, so it’s important to check your state’s laws before stocking up on hemp-derived CBD products.

What are the medicinal effects of CBD?

Balanced CBD/THC strains will be a little more euphoric than CBD-dominant strains, though they’re much less likely to induce anxiety, paranoia, and other negative side effects. Strains like these tend to be the most effective for pain relief, and they’re also well-suited for THC-sensitive consumers who’d like a mellow buzz.

In less than two years, Charlotte went from a monthly seizure count of 1,200 to about three. Other success stories followed and more parents have begun to speak out, particularly parents desperate for access to this life-saving treatment.

CBD can also block some of the intoxicating effects of THC. By binding to cannabinoid receptors, it will keep THC from activating those receptors. This translates to a less intense psychoactive effect, which is why products with a mix of CBD and THC are great for first-time consumers.

Keep in mind that there are 111 other active cannabinoids besides CBD and THC that are less understood, and each strain will have different levels of each of them. The variety is infinite and the only real way to find what is best for you is to research what has worked for others and experiment accordingly.

An oversimplified rule of thumb: the higher the THC content, the higher you get. (There are, however, other components in cannabis — cannabinoids and terpenes — that influence the “high.”). Conversely, most patients achieve greater medical benefits with less of a “high” with higher CBD content.

The reality is that there is an incredibly complex biochemical signaling process that is colored by all the different active compounds within a given strain. This is further complicated by the unique genetics and neurochemistry of the individual patient.

Different Strains for Different Aims

CBD is the answer. CBD acts as a counterbalance to THC, and there are a few strains and many products that contain CBD with little to no THC. It’s medical marijuana without THC.

According to Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), there are over 1.2 million medical marijuana patients in the United States. For some of these people, the high that comes with cannabis is not the goal but an unpleasant side-effect that impairs their ability to live a productive and happy life.

THC and CBD have inverse effects on the body and mind so the ratio of THC to CBD is vitally important for medical patients. Because research is just in its infancy, medical professionals have different opinions on the ideal ratio.

The whole story, however, is more nuanced and medical marijuana without THC may not be the best solution depending on your condition.

A potential issue is that most CBD topicals treat anatomical structures within a centimeter of the skin. Therefore, you will likely only see benefits in the specific location where you apply the cream. Also, the actual soreness you feel is probably located deeper.

Those who use hemp tea claim it leads to a calming, soothing, and relaxing sensation. It is the infusion of several parts of the hemp plant, including seeds, leaves, and buds, that are steeped in water.

It seems as if various cultures have used cannabis and hemp tea for millennia. This form of tea probably originated in Asia and was harvested when the plant was at its most mature. This process increases the CBD concentration in the plant matter.

Another reason to avoid THC is if you are a federal employee, or your company routinely makes staff complete drug screenings. Although organizations are becoming more tolerant, you can still expect to lose your job if you test positive for THC metabolites. Also, once you get stoned, you are not legally allowed to drive or operate heavy machinery.

In general, you can expect deep nourishing hydration, alleviation from foot dryness, and all-day comfort. When choosing any CBD topical, including foot cream, keep a close eye on the ingredients. Ideally, it will contain nothing but natural goodness rather than the harmful chemicals that plague the beauty industry.

After lining a baking tin, pour in your mixture. Place it in the freezer until it becomes hard, and cut it into pieces.
